Now in its 16th year, the annual community-wide fundraising event blew through past milestones on Sept. 19 and raised $68.3 million. It makes it by far the largest regional fundraising event in the nation and brings the total raised since inception to $634 million.

Giving is important to Texans, which is why the state celebrates an annual online charity event called North Texas Giving Day. This year, North Texas Giving Day has been extended from one day to nearly three weeks, from Sept. 1 through Sept. 19.

Hot temperatures returned to North Texas this week – so it's important to remember to take breaks and get out of the heat, and make sure to stay hydrated if it's necessary to be outside. Those things are more difficult for those experiencing homelessness and don't have access to air conditioning or running water.
